Camera setup guides
Follow these steps on the controller and Android camera. Account and camera management always happens at the secure Athesus View application.
1. Create or sign in to your account
- Open Athesus View Cloud.
- Select Start free or Sign in.
- Use a unique password of at least 10 characters.
2. Generate a camera pairing code
- In the controller, select the camera icon and choose to add a camera.
- Give the camera a recognisable name such as “Front door” or “Office”.
- Display the QR code. It expires after approximately 10 minutes and can only be used once.
3. Install the Android camera app
- Scan the QR code using the Android device that will become the camera.
- Download the signed Athesus View APK from the pairing page.
- Android may ask you to allow installation from the browser. Enable it only for this installation, install the APK, then disable that setting again if preferred.
- Return to the pairing page and select Open Camera App.
4. Allow required permissions
- Camera: required for live video and recordings.
- Microphone: required for listening, recorded sound and two-way audio.
- Location: optional, but required for the owner-only last-known-location finder.
Choose “Allow while using the app”. Athesus View does not require background location because the camera app must remain running to stream.
5. Position the camera safely
- Use a stable stand and connect reliable power.
- Keep the device ventilated and out of direct rain, intense sunlight and excessive heat.
- Use Camera-only lock if the device is dedicated to monitoring.
- Follow local privacy, audio recording and CCTV notice laws.
6. Test from the controller
- Confirm the camera shows Online or Streaming.
- Check live video, Listen, Talk, snapshot and cloud recording.
- Open Location Finder and confirm the reported time and accuracy if location is enabled.
- Test the siren at a considerate volume and time.
Troubleshooting
Camera setup required
Create a new QR pairing code. Old codes expire and cannot be reused.
Video works but sound does not
Open Android Settings → Apps → Athesus View → Permissions and allow Microphone. Return to the camera app afterwards.
No map location
Install the latest APK, enable Android Location, allow location permission and leave the camera app open with an internet connection. The map cannot update a powered-off device.
Camera goes offline
Check power, Wi-Fi or mobile data, Android battery optimisation and whether the camera app remains open. Some manufacturers aggressively stop apps to save power.
Old page after an update
Close all Athesus View browser tabs and the Android app, then reopen them. If necessary, clear the browser cache for the site.
